On February 27, 2026, School No. 73 in Kazan's Privolzhsky district hosted an open "Digital Lesson" on the topic of "Data Analysis: How algorithms help everyone find what they need", which is a part of a nationwide educational project organized by the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, the Russian Ministry of Education and the Digital Economy non-commercial organization in partnership with major Russian IT companies and Tatarstan Ministry of Digitalization.
Kazan is one of the key venues for the nationwide project.
The Kazan school was one of six locations in Russia where open lessons with Avito experts were held concurrently that day. In addition to Kazan, events were also held in St. Petersburg, Ryazan, Tyumen, Voronezh and Tambov. Head of the Avito analytics team Daria Bezborodova spoke at School No. 73 presenting to students a presentation on the principles of recommendation systems.
Diving into the World of Algorithms and Data
Seventh-grade students learned how the algorithms that underlie modern digital platforms work. Schoolchildren completed a special training simulator on the website urokurtcifry.rf, which included five interactive games, each introducing key IT professions:
- "Area of Interests" - about the work of a data scientist
- "Data Delivery Route" - about the profession of a backend developer
- "Library of Hypotheses" - about the work of a data analyst
- "Hall of Balanced Decisions" - about A/B testing
Education with a Charitable Component
A unique feature of Avito's "Digital Lesson" was its charitable component: for successfully completing the simulator, students received virtual points, which the company will later convert into real donations to charitable organizations. "We are creating these lessons to inspire schoolchildren to be involved in the world of IT and algorithms and to help them choose their future careers. The programme is suitable for both elementary and high school students: using clear examples, we teach logic and working with data," Director of Avito's Search and Recommendations Department Andrey Venzhega said.
The lesson was held under the nationwide educational initiative implemented in support of the federal project "Personnel for Digital Transformation" of the national project "Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State."
