May 21 marks an important historical date – the day of the official adoption of Islam by Volga Bulgaria. In 922, our ancestors adopted Islam as the state religion. In honor of this commemorative date, we highlight a modern project that helps unite Muslims at the digital level.
The resident of IT Park created a dating app for Muslims called Zawajy (meaning "My Marriage"), which is aimed at combining modern technology with traditional Muslim values.
There are approximately 2 billion Muslims worldwide, of whom over 400 million are currently ready to marry. However, most dating apps do not align with their values: women often feel unprotected, and it is impossible to invite family members to help in choosing a spouse.
Zawajy solves these problems: the app provides anonymity and profile privacy, and user data is securely protected. At the same time, the service allows family and friends to participate in the spouse selection process: chatting will only function in the presence of a third person.
Currently, more than 20,000 active users are registered on the platform. The app offers a paid subscription, which allows users to give more "likes," see who has liked their profile, and use AI for pair matching.
The developers plan to attract foreign investments totaling approximately 85 million roubles to expand into regions of Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa, in order to cover key Muslim regions. To enter new markets, the app's creators intend to launch performance marketing channels and collaborate with ambassadors and Muslim brands. The service will be adapted to the cultural specifics of the markets in the Persian Gulf, Southeast Asia and Central Asia.
