Students at Gymnasium No. 75 in Kazan took part in an educational session under the "Digital Literacy" project, focusing on topics such as "Pet Protection in the Digital World" and "Harmful tips on Digital Security", which is implemented in support of the national project “Data Economy”.

"Digital Literacy" is a nationwide initiative aimed at helping both adults and children improve their digital skills and increase awareness of cybersecurity. The organizers include the Ministry of Digital Development of Russia, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization "Digital Security." The programme features a series of animated videos and teaching materials for educators.

A pre-sales support engineer at Kaspersky in the Volga Federal District Andrey Gruzinov delivered the lesson for grades 7 and 8. In the first video, set in the fictional city of Ocean City, students learned how to secure smart homes and protect pets using digital technologies.

According to our survey, one in three pet owners is worried about their pet getting lost, for example, during walks or outdoor activities. Special solutions, such as pet GPS trackers, help reduce these risks, Head of the "Kaspersky Lab" Child Online Security Department Andrey Sidenko explained.

The second video taught students how to distinguish "harmful tips" for digital behavior from efficient cybersecurity rules. They also learned what the Internet of Things (IoT) is and how it originated.

"Modern children are immersed in the digital world even before they start school: they actively use messengers, apps and entertainment services. Therefore, cybersecurity issues are becoming even more relevant. These lessons teach students not only how to use smart devices but also how to protect themselves and their loved ones from cyber threats," Deputy Minister of Digitalization of Tatarstan Bulat Gabdrahmanov said.
