First session of the Supervision Council of SEZ “Innopolis” held at Tatarstan Government House

On April 11 the first session of the Supervision Council of SEZ “Innopolis” on results of work in 2013, activities to be realized in 2014, and development strategy till 2024, chaired by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov was held in Kazan. Director General of OAO “Special Economic Zones” Vadim Tretyakov took part in the event.

Opening the session, Rustam Minnikhanov noted that the technology development special economic zone “Innopolis” was created on November 1, 2012. It occupies the area of 294 hectares in Verkhny Uslon and Laishevo regions. The infrastructure development plan implies 22,5 billion roubles of investments. Rustam Minnikhanov asked to intensify construction works in spring.

Members of the Supervision Council approved procedures and regulations of the new institution and voted for election of Rustam Minnikhanov Chairman of the Supervision Council of SEZ “Innopolis”.

Rustam Minnikhanov thanked members of the council for support and called them for joint work. “It is a very serious project, and we have to realize responsibility for its implementation. Tatarstan has an opportunity to become IT capital of Russia,” he said.

Rustam Minnikhanov suggested electing Minister of Information and Communication Roman Shaikhutdinov Deputy Chairman of the Supervision Council, and Director of SEZ “Innopolis” Igor Nosov – Secretary of the Supervision Council.

Making report at the session, Igor Nosov said that a large amount of work on approving all main documents of the new city and special economic zone was done.

It was noted that 350 people currently work at construction sites, and about 1.5 thousand people at all objects of the new city. Attraction of residents is now one of priority tasks of executives of the special economic zone.

According to Igor Nosov, 12 priority areas and 20 partner countries were defined. By 2024, 352 residents are to be located at the special economic zone in Verkhny Uslon region. The amount of investments is expected to make 27,5 billion roubles, net sales - 177 billion roubles.

During the session Igor Nosov suggested naming two first Innopolis technology parks after outstanding Russian scientists Aleksandr Popov and Nikolay Lobachevsky. Members of the Supervision Council supported the idea.

Director General of OAO “Special Economic Zones” Vadim Tretyakov, in his turn, called SEZ “Innopolis” a result of hard work that embodies the whole experience in the sphere of creation of special economic zones in Russia.
