17 March 2014, Monday
Tatarstan Ministry of Information and Communication will organize open data hackathon for programmers and contests for designers and journalists to promote applied open data solutions.

Open data is the information posted on the Internet in such a format that enables its automated processing without preliminary changes made by people, and that can be re-used.

For now, the portal “Open Tatarstan” has been launched. It includes “Public expertize”, “Public control”, and “Public discussion of state purchases” sections.
Open data are also to be used for developing sections “Open budget”, and “Deputies”.

According to the US and Great Britain experience, open data helps developers to create new convenient online services for citizens, and the government - to support development of IT business, and improve public control tools.

At the first stage Russia has published 5, 000 data sets on federal and regional levels.
