8 December 2012, Saturday

On December 8 President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Deputy Director General Viktor Goreglyad launched digital TV broadcasting at Shemordan TV center.

Vice-premier and Minister of informatization and communications Roman Shaikhutdinov and Head of Sabinsky region Rais Minnikhanov participated in a solemn ceremony.

Tatarstan has become the first region in Russia to launch digital TV broadcasting in DVB-T2 format.
Work on installing radio receive and transmit equipment is being fulfilled at four powerful TV centers in Naberezhnye Chelny, Nizhnekamsk, Leninogorsk, and Bilyarsk, and three low-capacity retransmitters in Chistopol, Lenino and Egorievo. They are to be launched by the end of 2012. Thus, coverage of population with high-quality digital TV will make 70 percent.

The President was told about means of digital channel reception. Samples of equipment were also demonstrated to him.

Finally, Rustam Minnikhanov presented special devices for receiving digital TV broadcasting to veterans who had made considerable contribution to present-day achievements.
