18 October 2012, Thursday
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of informatization and communications Roman Shaikhutdinov told that new administrative-territorial unit Innopolis would be created in Verkhny Uslon (Tatarstan).
Innopolis was supposed to be constructed on the territory of Elizavetino village. On July, 5, 2012 deputies of the Tatarstan State Council decided to rename Elizavetino village to Innopolis.
Yesterday, Chairman of the Tatarstan State Council Committee for state building and local self-government Valentina Lipuzhina informed that the idea was not supported by federal bodies. “We will create new municipal district called Innopolis in Verkhny Uslon region,” the minister said.
Construction of Innopolis was started this year. Chairman of the Russian Government Dmitry Medvedev laid the capsule with a message to future residents of Innopolis on June 9. 155 thousand people including 60 thousand IT specialists will live in new city.
