About 2,000 students of the Institute of Information Technology and Intelligent Systems receive scholarships

About 2,000 students of the Institute of Information Technology and Intelligent Systems (IITS) at Kazan Federal University (KFU) received scholarships for studies in “Software Engineering” with a focus on “Modern Software Development.” Annually, more than 22.6 million roubles are allocated from the regional budget for this purpose under the “Personnel for the Digital Economy” regional project.

The world is rapidly developing digital technologies, new services are emerging. These trends increase the demand across the economy for qualified IT specialists. Software development remains the largest segment in the republic’s market, accounting for 52.3%.

In 2025, the revenue of IT companies in Tatarstan engaged in software publishing grew by 153% compared to 2024.

Tatarstan Government supported the scholarship programme, operating since 2015. It annually helps attract talented applicants to the industry. After graduation, students undertake internships at enterprises across Tatarstan.

To participate in the program, students should submit an application for the scholarship. A selection committee, comprising representatives from Tatarstan Ministry of Digitalization, IITS, and IT companies conducts the selection process. Winners are selected based on:

First-year students with the highest scores in the Unified State Exam (USE) in mathematics, computer science, and Russian language.

Students in years 2–4 with the best academic performance in the previous year.

On March 18, 2026, the Institute of Information Technology and Intelligent Systems at KFU celebrated its 15th anniversary. The institute trains highly qualified specialists, provides advanced training and offers professional retraining for IT employees.

Starting from the second year, IITS students undertake internships under the supervision of leading IT professionals. Students work on research projects in 20 laboratories, including the Mobile Development Laboratory, Digital Media Lab, Laboratory of Intelligent Robotic Systems, Smart Education Lab and others. Today, IITS graduates work across diverse sectors, from medicine and education to industry and transportation.
