Digital sovereignty of Tatarstan: how local companies are changing the region’s economy
The Bashir Rameev IT Park hosted a round table organized by RBC, with the participation of representatives of Tatarstan Ministry of Digitalization and leading IT companies of the region, which was devoted to discussion of digital sovereignty of Tatarstan, national project «Data economy and digital transformation of the state», its current trends and development prospects.
The round table discussed the important role of business in import substitution and development of the digital industry. Local small and medium-sized enterprises have taken up the vacant niches, starting to produce software, food products, building materials and much more. This led to increased interest of large Russian companies in domestic producers, which in turn strengthened the region’s economy.
In addition, Tatarstan is actively developing communications infrastructure, information systems in construction, transferring jobs to domestic software and other important initiatives. All these efforts are aimed at achieving digital sovereignty and strengthening the region's position in the national arena.
