Analysts named popular universities among Tatarstan applicants

The senior schoolchildren have a busy time of preparation for admission. By April, the activity of applicants and their parents on the websites of the leading universities of the country increased year-on-year by 54 per cent. MegaFon analysts report that Kazan Federal University and educational institutions of Moscow and Saint Petersburg are in the top.

Also in the top ten is the First Medical University. Sechenov, Tomsk Polytechnic, MSTU named after. Bauman, Siberian Federal University and Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation

The operator’s specialists studied the anonymised data of user appeals to the portals of the first 30 universities from the National University Ranking. Since the beginning of 2024, more than 70 per cent of the data traffic from Tatarstan was expected to fall on the Kazan (Volga) Federal University, but there is noticeable interest of schoolchildren and to study outside the republic. Among the Internet resources of educational institutions from other regions, the leadership was as follows:

1. Higher School of Economics;

2.  Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology;

3.  St. Petersburg State University;

4.  Lomonosov Moscow State University;

5.  Ural Federal University.

The First Medical University after Sechenov, Tomsk Polytechnic University, Bauman Moscow State Technical, Siberian Federal University and Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation are in the top ten.

Last year’s figures show that applicants from the republic begin to carefully study the websites of educational institutions in September and October. A significant spike was seen in December, with peaks in May. In 2023, applicants from Tatarstan showed maximum interest in Kazan Federal University, Higher School of Economics and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.
