On August 25, speaking at a board meeting dedicated to the communications industry in Tatarstan, Regional Minister of Digitalization Ayrat Khayrullin summed up the results of the first half of 2023. Deputy Minister Albert Yakovlev made the keynote report. This year, in 77 small rural settlements of Tatarstan, where from 100 to 500 people live, base communication stations will be installed under the programme of elimination of the digital inequality.
Mobile Internet traffic grew by 11 per cent a year, while wired Internet traffic grew by 20.8 per cent. In terms of Internet traffic consumed, Tatarstan also ranks first among the regions of the Volga Federal District. According to Russian Ministry of Digital Development, in 2022, the volume of capital investments of telecom operators amounted to almost 350 billion roubles throughout Russia. Experts predict a comparable level of investment in the current year. This year, in Tatarstan, the volume of investments of mobile operators in infrastructure development will be at the level of the previous year and will amount to more than 2 billion roubles. Telecom operators continue to install base stations to ensure quality of service. In the first half of this year, 914 base stations were installed and upgraded.
