Computer centre for elderly people opens in Kazan

The computer consulting centre for elderly people opened in Kazan on April 15 within the framework of social programme “Grandmother and grandfather online”.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Anatoly Geller, CEO of GUP “Centre of information technologies of the Republic of Tatarstan” Tatyana Kamaletdinova, Director of OAO “Rostelecom” Maxim Gornostayev, Vice-president of MROO “Association of veterans, disabled people and pensioners” Nikolay Tesalov, and Intel PR director Evgeny Zakablukovsky participated in a solemn ceremony.
The programme enables elderly and disabled people to learn computer basic skills for free. The project is implemented under the auspices of Intel and OAO “Rostelecom” companies.
In Russia the programme has been realized since 2008 within the framework of the “Strategy of information society development in Russia”.
Students at Gymnasium No. 75 in Kazan took part in an educational session under the "Digital Literacy" project, focusing on topics such as "Pet Protection in the Digital World" and "Harmful tips on Digital Security", which is implemented in support of the national project “Data Economy”.
Tatarstan residents have increased their phone communication by one-third. According to MegaFon, in March 2025, the average person talked on the phone for 4 hours and 49 minutes per month. This year, the average call time has risen to 6 hours and 20 minutes.
