Innopolis University to implement STEM-robotics programme at Tatarstan schools

Session of Supervision council of Innopolis University with participation of Russian Minister of Communication and Mass Media Nikolay Nikiforov, his deputy Mark Shmulevich, Advisor of the Department of IT industry development of Russian Ministry of Communication and Mass Media Sergey Negodyaev, and founder of Parallels company, Director General of Acronis, senior partner of Runa Capital fund Sergey Belousov was held last Saturday.
Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Information and Communication Roman Shaikhutdinov, rector of Innopolis University Aleksandr Tormasov, and Director of the University Dmitry Kondratiev took part in the event. Annual report for 2013 and development plans for 2014 were presented to members of the supervision council.
Last year Innopolis University got a license from the Ministry of Education and Science for realization of educational activity. The strategy of university development till 2020 and detailed road map till September 2016 were approved.
Arrangements were reached with 5 professors on realizing teaching and research activity at Innopolis University. Three STEM centres of children’s technical creativity were opened last year. First 14 Russian and foreign students started MA courses at Carnegie Mellon University.
In 2014 the university is to get a license for realisaiton of higher educational programmes. In 2014 Innopolis University and Singapore National University will start cooperating in development and realisaiton of educational programmes and research activity.
Cooperation agreement with Edinburgh University (Great Britain) for joint development of Bachelor's programmes is being prepared.
In 2014, Innopolis University will start developing the consortium of European universities to develop MA programme Artificial Intelligence.
STEM-robotics programme will be implemented as a part of compulsory curriculum at Tatarstan comprehensive schools.

About 2,000 students of the Institute of Information Technology and Intelligent Systems (IITS) at Kazan Federal University (KFU) received scholarships for studies in “Software Engineering” with a focus on “Modern Software Development.” Annually, more than 22.6 million roubles are allocated from the regional budget for this purpose under the “Personnel for the Digital Economy” regional project.
To date, Yandex delivery robots began operating in the Novo-Savinovsky and Sovetsky districts of Kazan. On December 2025, robot delivery was firstly introduced in the Vakhitovsky district of the city.
The implementation of robot delivery is aimed at making everyday life more comfortable for residents through the use of advanced technology. Users will be able to track the movement of the courier robot on a map directly within the app, ensuring transparency and convenience. Since robots do not require breaks or rest periods, delivery services will operate reliably around the clock.
Mobile Telecommunication Systems Company reported on its activities in Tatarstan for the year 2025 during a weekly meeting at Tatarstan Ministry of Digitalization.
Director of the MTS branch in Tatarstan Marat Kabanov outlined key areas of work in 2025 and the achieved results.
On March 27, Tatarstan Minister of Digitalization Ilya Nachvyn held a meeting with Director General of "Info-Obereg" Vladimir Dorofeev.
Such meetings between the minister and representatives of the IT community are held on Fridays in an open dialogue format. These personal meetings provide an opportunity for companies to share their experiences, discuss their projects and seek support.
