Tatarstan residents submitted more than 1 million appeals through the “People’s Inspector” system
Since 2014, the “People’s Inspector” State System has been operating in Tatarstan, allowing residents to report traffic violations and damage to the urban environment. Over its entire operation, active residents have submitted more than 1 million requests.
By reporting violations, residents become key helpers to the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate and the city administrations in ensuring safety. Each timely signal helps curb dangerous driving behavior, prevent accidents and even save lives. The project directly influences driving culture, making city streets safer for both pedestrians and motorists.
“The app helps us all work together for common safety, protecting people commuting to work, children on their way to school and our elderly citizens. In ‘People’s Inspector,’ residents most often reported parking on sidewalks — 578,000 times; stopping under a prohibition sign — 106,000 times; and parking in green zones — 85,000 times. I sincerely thank every resident of the republic for their concern. You not only express your stance but also help prevent tragedies,” Deputy Minister of Digitalization of Tatarstan Aleksey Klontsak said.
In September 2024, an updated version of the app was released. Since then, citizens have been able to receive monetary rewards for documenting seven types of violations:
Running a red light
Driving in the oncoming lane
Crossing the stop line
Using a mobile phone while driving
Not wearing a seat belt
Failing to yield to a pedestrian
Dumping waste
Today, processing of video materials for these categories is performed by artificial intelligence.
Leaders in the number of submitted and confirmed notifications for paid categories are Kazan residents, who submitted about 11,600 notifications. Naberezhnye Chelny residents are second with 2,600 confirmed and the Nizhnekamsk region is third with 2,200.
How to report a violation in the app:
Record a video. Film the violation with a camera; the system will automatically determine your location.
Submit the appeal. Specify the violation category, location and your contact details.
Wait for a decision. Specialists from the relevant department will review the video and, if the violation is confirmed, issue a citation.
