Fraudsters start sending fake utility debt notices to residents
On the eve of the heating season, criminals started sending citizens fake messages about utility service debts. In these notices, they demand payment of non-existent arrears and include phishing links.
If the recipient follows the specified link, they risk transferring their funds to the fraudsters' account.
How to protect yourself from criminals:
1. Do not click on links in messages. Do not open web addresses from SMS messages, emails or messenger notifications if they come from unknown senders.
2. Use "Safe Mode". The national messenger "Max" offers a "Safe Mode" feature that blocks calls and chat invitations from users who are not in your contact list.
3. Verify information and do not make hasty decisions. Break off contact and reach out to family members, neighbors or your management company. An outside perspective often helps you understand that you are dealing with a fraudster.
