Network coverage expanded along the Kazanka embankment
Additional telecom infrastructure has been deployed to extend mobile network coverage and capacity along the Kazanka Embankment. The URAM Extreme Park area now hosts new telecom infrastructure. MegaFon engineers carried out improvements to signal quality.
The upgrade was driven by the growing number of users at the site. This summer, the operator’s subscriber count within the park rose by 20% year over year. Of the total traffic, 30% to 60% came from visitors from other Russian regions. In three months, URAM was visited by residents from 72 regions of the country. Riders from Moscow, as well as from other regions of the Volga Federal District more frequently tested Kazan’s pools, pump tracks and air zones.
Approximately half of all out-of-town guests came to Kazan from the Volga Federal District. The largest groups were extreme-sports enthusiasts from Bashkortostan, Chuvashia and Samara, Ulyanovsk and Kirov regions. Another 20% were residents of Moscow and the Moscow region. In addition, the pump track attracted extreme-sports fans from the country's farthest corners. Visitors traveled thousands of kilometers from Yakutia, Chukotka, Kamchatka, Magadan oblast, Arkhangelsk Ooblast, Zabaykalsky Krai, North Ossetia–Alania, and other regions.
Peak network loads at the Extreme Park during the summer occurred mainly in the evenings, on weekends, and on days of major events. For example, during Youth Day celebrations or the Street Culture Festival, data traffic increased on average by 2.5–3 times. More than a third of the traffic was video sharing. In addition, with the launch of the new communications facility, internet activity in the park rose by 33% and continues to grow in September.
“The new equipment expanded coverage both in the outdoor areas of the URAM Extreme Park and inside the enclosed complex, where the mobile signal has become more stable. The deployment of the additional telecom infrastructure also relieved load on neighboring base stations. As a result, the quality of digital services improved in adjacent urban areas, including the Kazanka Embankment, the Millennium Bridge, and Gorky Park,” MegaFon’s Director for Tatarstan Valery Borunov commented.
