Tatarstan government agencies switching to VK Tech mail system
Tatarstan is transitioning government institutions to the domestic VK WorkSpace mail system from VK Tech. In the first phase, more than 10,000 employees of the Ministry of Digitalization, Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Ecology, Ministry of Economy and other agencies have been connected to the system. All government institutions of the republic will migrate to VK WorkSpace.
The project is coordinated by Digital Transformation Centre of Tatarstan (a state government institution under the Ministry of Digitalization of the republic), which is responsible for the digitalization of the republic's services, developing new digital products and supporting more than 70 information systems. The specialists' primary task was to migrate tens of thousands of work accounts without losing important data or interrupting the daily workflows of the ministries.
VK WorkSpace mail operates on secure Russian servers, eliminating leaks and ensuring maximum data security. The deployed system has passed rigorous testing, proving its ability to operate stably and without failures even under high activity from tens of thousands of users.
The transition to the new tool will increase the speed of agency operations, improving the quality of citizen services and reducing response times to public inquiries. Employees no longer need to search for contacts of colleagues from other ministries and municipalities — all agencies are consolidated in a unified address book. Modern tools such as anti-spam and anti-phishing systems are now implemented across all organizations at once, rather than being purchased separately for each.
The next phase will involve transitioning the remaining institutions of the republic to VK WorkSpace. The solution will unite more than 40,000 employees of government authorities, municipalities, educational institutions and social organizations.
"Previously, our employees used the Microsoft Exchange mail system. However, today it is critically important that every specialist works in a secure digital environment and that all government services function without interruption under any conditions. This is why we are working to transition to reliable domestic software. All civil servant workstations have already been migrated to the domestic operating system Astra Linux, and the domestic office suite R7-Office has been implemented for document work. The next logical step was to transition agencies to a Russian mail system. We reached an agreement with VK Tech to deploy the VK WorkSpace platform, and the first phase of this project has now been successfully implemented," Tatarstan Minister of Digitalization of Public Administration, Information Technologies and Communications Ilya Nachvin said.

We will continue to develop the platform to ensure it remains a reliable foundation for government institutions," Head of Productivity Services at VK Tech Pyotr Shcheglov commented.
