On July 13, speaking at a weekly meeting of Tatarstan Ministry of Digitalization, where the results of the second year of implementing the development programme "Integrated Aviation Engineering" were reviewed, Director of the Advanced Engineering School of Kazan National Research Technical University named after A. N. Tupolev – KAI Leonid Shabalin said that over the past year the school has developed 54 new educational programmes for higher and additional professional education.
The Advanced Engineering School specializes in training systems engineers to transform the aerospace industry. The training focuses on preparing specialists capable of managing the full lifecycle of aircraft development — from design and engineering to technological preparation for serial production. Training is conducted in four core areas: digital and composite technologies, microelectronics and additive technologies.
During the second year of operation, the KAI Advanced Engineering School has achieved the following key results:
14 new specialized research and educational spaces;
232 patents and other intellectual property registrations;
114 graduates employed;
Early career guidance provided to approximately 6,500 schoolchildren.
This year, the school held its first graduation of young specialists. Degrees were awarded to bachelor's graduates in aircraft engineering, as well as master's graduates in information systems, electronics, nanoelectronics and engineering and technological support for manufacturing industries. During their thesis defenses, graduates presented innovative technological solutions, including software for detecting foreign objects on runways.
Some educational tracks have been developed in cooperation with the real sector of the economy. In partnership with the Mikron Company, the school launched 11 higher education programmes and over 40 additional professional training courses. Today, the school offers 29 additional professional training programmes, including the course "Introduction to Neural Networks. Practical Mastery of AI Platforms".
Students learn the principles of neural network operation and how to formulate efficient prompt queries to solve work-related tasks.
In parallel, the KAI Advanced Engineering School is developing digital platforms to engage young people in the engineering environment. Through a personal account, schoolchildren across the republic gain access to specialized courses and events. For university students, the developers have launched a web-based development system that includes an AI-powered analyzer of the student's digital profile, which assesses academic progress and automatically recommends suitable internship programmes and promising areas for growth.
