Tatarstan launches professional development programme for teachers to lead AI clubs in colleges
A professional development programme for college instructors in the republic started in Kazan. They will master methods for leading clubs where students will create industry-specific AI agents – digital assistants designed to solve specific enterprise tasks.
The training opened at the International Center of Competences – Kazan College of Information Technologies and Communications. A total of 120 educators from 70 educational organizations in Tatarstan have started the classes, 100 of whom became winners of the "Teacher – Leader of an Artificial Intelligence Club" grant competition this year.
Deputy Minister of Digitalization of Tatarstan Albert Yakovlev addressed the instructors with a welcoming speech.
"Tatarstan is the first region in Russia to develop its own artificial intelligence development programme. Behind every graduate's success lies the enormous effort of their mentor. Thanks to you, we will be able to raise our own generation of AI specialists," Yakovlev said.
The training began with practical sessions. Participants split into four groups and using real-life examples, examined:
Generating images, presentations and diagrams using AI;
The architecture of AI agents;
An overview of construction platforms: Yandex AI Studio, OpenClaw, Hermes AI;
Designing industry-specific AI agents.
Participants will continue the training remotely, then will meet at MCC-KCITC from June 29 to July 1 for final sessions and the final assessment.
The professional development of educators is part of a large-scale regional artificial intelligence development programme for 2026–2030. The programme includes four areas: human resources, infrastructure, industry-specific AI projects and science.
Training is structured across different levels. AI clubs will open in 100 schools across the republic for students in grades 5–8 and university graduates will be able to study abroad and work at Tatarstan enterprises due to the "Algarysh in the area of Artificial Intelligence" grant programme.
