New season of "Day of Digit": AI and cybersecurity games to be updated in children’s camps
On June 1, Non‑profit organization "Digital Economy" together with the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, Russian Ministry of Education and the country's leading technology companies, launched a new season of the all‑Russian project for children's camps "Day of Digit". The project is implemented in support of the national project "Data Economy" and for the fifth year, introduces schoolchildren to IT professions, modern technologies and digital literacy in a light, game‑based format – right during their summer holidays.
"Day of Digit" is an important step in the development of Russia's digital education. The project not only introduces children to cutting‑edge technologies – from artificial intelligence to cybersecurity – but does it in an interactive format that is both engaging and memorable. Due to the project, schoolchildren have the opportunity to learn more about promising areas of the digital economy and the sought‑after professions of the future.
For the 2026 season, materials for the project have been prepared by the Charity Foundation "Contribution to the Future," 1C Firm, Yandex and VK. VK will introduce participants to modern digital technologies, cybersecurity and digital literacy, while 1C will prepare materials about user interfaces.
The team of the Charity Foundation "Contribution to the Future" has developed a full range of activities on artificial intelligence. These include: a "Digital Skills" quiz with tasks in various formats, a collection of six tabletop mini‑games about technology, a non‑linear team‑based simulation quest "Assembly Protocol," a role‑playing game "Tech Startup," a dynamic floor game "Path to AI," as well as thematic sessions "Technology for Life" and "Study Honestly," dedicated to the ethical use of neural networks in educational and project activities.
Yandex has developed methodological materials for the project aimed at fostering digital literacy and critical thinking among schoolchildren. The interactive program format, with practical tasks and game mechanics, will help participants learn to work consciously with information, recognize fake content and manipulation, verify sources and critically evaluate online materials; it will also introduce them to the basics of cybersecurity and responsible online behavior.
"Today, digital literacy is becoming a core competency and our task is to make the introduction to technology accessible and interesting for the younger generation. For the fifth year in a row, together with the state and technology companies, we are creating a clear and engaging environment for schoolchildren to get acquainted with IT, so that students across the country can learn more about modern IT professions, AI, cybersecurity, and other promising areas of the digital economy. Together with the project's partners, we aim to inspire schoolchildren to study technology and to show that the Russian IT industry offers great opportunities for self‑realization," noted Yulia Goryachkina, Director of the Department for Training Personnel for the Digital Economy of the Autonomous Non‑profit Organization "Digital Economy."
