A professional development programme for IT teachers, which is a key component of a comprehensive AI development initiative, planned to run until 2030, has been launched in Tatarstan. All 623 IT teachers in the republic will participate in the training.
The training programme was developed by the “School 21,” Kazan Federal University and Innopolis University. During the sessions, teachers will learn how to work with the GigaChat neural network, the “GosPrompt” service and other tools.
Already now, educators can apply to lead AI clubs. Following a selection process, 239 top teachers will start managing clubs in 100 schools across Tatarstan from September 1. Deputy Minister of Digitalization of Tatarstan Bulat Gabdrakhmanov wished the teachers good luck and encouraged all interested to apply for leading AI clubs.
These AI clubs will annually engage over 3,500 students of grades 5–8. This is not a theoretical course but practical, hands-on activities where children work directly with technologies.
The programme is structured in stages:
Grades 5–6: Students will learn how to work with neural networks, formulate correct prompts, verify responses and create simple projects such as texts, images and presentations. For example, a child will be able to train a model to distinguish between a cat and a dog or develop an AI assistant that explains math topics.
