Nikolay Nikiforov: "Innovations are impossible without IT sector"

It is the second day of International investment forum “Open innovations” in Moscow. According to Russian Minister of Communication and Mass Media Nikolay Nikiforov, development of IT sector should make an impact on all economic sectors and make up a foundation for innovations.

The previous evening Nikolay Nikiforov, his deputy Mark Shmulevich, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan Vice-premier and Minister of Information and Communication Roman Shaikhutdinov, rector of Carnegie Mellon University Mark Kamlet, rector of Innopolis University Aleksandr Tormasov, founder of Parallels company Sergey Belousov, managing partner of Almaz Capital Partners Aleksandr Galitsky discussed the future of IT industry at the forum “Open innovations”.

The panel discussion organized by Innopolis, the official partner of the forum was dedicated to creation of an ideal IT eco-system by the example of future Innopolis city.

Dominique Fache, one of the founders of Sophia Antipolis innovation centre in France took part in the discussion.

Opening the event, Nikolay Nikiforov thanked everyone who took part in development of the Strategy of Russian IT industry for 2014-2020 that was approved by Russian Government the previous week.

There are currently about 350 thousand specialists in Russia whose main mission is programming. According to estimates of Russian Ministry of Communication and Mass Media, the demand for such specialists will increase up to 1 mln in the nearest five years.
