Study of AI-technologies in Russian universities may become mandatory

Speaking at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the development of artificial intelligence (AI), Russian Minister of Economic Development Maksim Reshetnikov said that the study of AI-technologies should be more actively implemented in the educational programmes of universities that train specialists for priority areas of the economy. In order to implement the training module on AI developed by the Ministry of Education and Science into universities, it should become mandatory.

The head of the Ministry of Economic Development also noted an increase in the number of students enrolled in AI programs at Russian universities. According to him, already today 3,000 people are studying in universities under AI programs, and next year the number of students will grow to 12,000.
