Digital equality: Tatarstan continues to provide mobile Internet and communication of small settlements

The programme of elimination of the digital divide is being implemented under the federal project "Information Infrastructure" of the national programme "Digital Economy". Operators implementing the programme have prepared the first statistics on the use of the network by subscribers. Tatarstan is working on elimination of the digital divide. Under the programme, base stations are installed in small settlements where from 100 to 500 people live and where there was no voice communication and mobile Internet before.

In 2022, Rostelecom Telecommunication Company launched 43 base stations in small towns in Tatarstan. Local residents got access to high-speed 4G mobile Internet and voice communication. In 2023, Rostelecom plans to build stations in another 55 villages. At the moment, 47 facilities have passed the approval stage, 9 supports have already been installed.

The operator of the programme is Rostelecom Company. The Tele2 operator, branch of Rostelecom Company, acts as a center of competence, prepares technical solutions and implements them.
