Handicapped people learn about the programme “Accessible environment” at Kazan IT park

On May 22 the delegation of Tatarstan organisation of All-Russia society of the disabled went to Kazan IT park to learn about the programme “Accessible environment” and estimate its opportunities and prospects.

Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Anatoly Geller delivered his speech in a conference hall. He told about conditions provided at IT park for handicapped people and said that main task of the programme “Accessible environment” is to promote such positive changes in urban environment.

However, a large amount of work must be done to make the city really comfortable and accessible for handicapped people. Wheelchair users said that not many house entrances are equipped with ramps. Participants of the meeting also focused on negligent attitude of city dwellers to facilities provided under the programme “Accessible environment”.

Notwithstanding all obstacles upon implementation of the programme there is much to be proud of. Upon well-coordinated work of city and republican agencies and support of population it can be successfully realized.
