Igor Shuvalov and Rustam Minnikhanov to meet Universiade Torch on Russky island

The Torch of XXVII World summer student games arrived in Vladivostok aboard the legendary Sedov vessel after a round-the-world trip on January 24. The Russian round of Universiade Torch Relay through 30 cities will start from Vladivostok. Tomorrow’s morning Universiade Torch will be brought to the Far Eastern federal university on Russky island. The Universiade Flame lighting ceremony will take place there.

First Vice-premier of the Russian Government Igor Shuvalov, President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Governor of Primorski Krai Vladimir Miklushevsky, Russian hockey player, captain of the Kazan Ak Bars, two-time World champion Aleksei Morozov, best Russian sportswoman 2010, honoured master of sports Ekaterina Gamova, honoured master of sports, silver medalist of the World Universiade 2005 Elena Voinova will participate in the ceremony.

FISU Vice-president Oleg Matytsin, RF Deputy Minister of sport Sergei Shelpakov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, Mayor of Vladivostok Igor Pushkarev, rector of the Far Eastern federal university Sergei Ivanets and students of the university will be present at the event.

Chairman of Tatarstan’s State Council Farid Mukhametshin, Kazan students, famous sportsmen and ambassadors of Universiade will go on the air from the football stadium for 45 000 seats under construction.

Universiade Torch Relay is considered the most large-scale in the history of student sport.
