Tatarstan switching to digital broadcasting!

On October 14, Tatarstan will switch to digital broadcasting. Over 1.3 million households in the republic will watch 20 channels in digital quality for free. The ceremony of switching to digital broadcasting will be held at a television tower, which has recently celebrated its 60th anniversary, in Kazan. Tatarstan Minister of Digitalization Airat Khayrullin, Deputy Minister of the Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of Russia Alexey Volin and other officials will take part in the ceremony.

It is also planned to visit the contact centre, which supports Tatarstan citizens during switching to digital broadcasting, and the ground satellite broadcasting station (teleport).

Due to the transition to digital broadcasting, Tatarstan citizens will watch 20 TV channels in high quality for free and release frequencies that can later be used for cellular communications and other tasks. As many as 99.3 per cent of Tatarstan households have the technical ability to receive a digital signal.
