Kazan hosts a meeting on digitalizing of TV broadcasting in Russia

On December 6, at the Interregional Center of Competencies - the Kazan Technical College of Information Technology and Communications, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy Dmitry Mezentsev, Chairman of the temporary commission of the Federation Council for Information Policy and Media Relations Alexey Pushkov, Deputy Minister for Communications and Mass Media Alexey Volin, Chairman of Tatarstan State Council Farid Mukhametshin and Deputy Prime Minister of the republic - Tatarstan Minister of Informatization and Communications Roman Shaykhutdinov took part in an extended meeting, dedicated to the readiness of Russian regions to switch from analogue to digital TV broadcasting.

The transition of TV broadcasting from analog to digital standard will start in February next year and will be implemented in three stages. The final implementation of the “digits” across the country is scheduled for June 2019. As many as 20 free digital TV channels will be available to the Russian citizens.
