On October 8, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic – Tatarstan Minister of Informatization and Communication Roman Shaykhutdinov, as a member of Tatarstan delegation led by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, arrived on a working visit in Japan, to take part in the 15th Annual Meeting of the International Science and Technology in Society Forum (STS-Forum).
Shaykhutdinov took part in the Sustainable Development and Lights and Shadows of Science and Technology plenary sessions.
On the sidelines of the Forum, he had a meeting with Chairman and its Founder Koji Omi.
In 2004, Omi founded the STS-Forum, aimed at establishing a worldwide network among scientists, politicians, businessmen and journalists. Before that, he held posts in the government of Japan three times, including the post of the Minister of Finance.
At the end of the meeting, Minnikhanov invited Omi and partners to continue their cooperation with the republic and invited the founder of the STS-Forum to deliver a lecture to the students of the University of Innopolis.
During the working visit, Tatarstan delegation also visited Japanese Institute of physical and chemical research “RIKEN”, an independent scientific organization uniting over 3,000 scientists from around the world, who conduct research in 18 institutes and centres located in 9 campuses.
Representatives of the RIKEN University made a presentation of scientific research on regenerative medicine.
The delegation of the republic also had a meeting with leaders of the Junior Chamber of Japan. The Junior Chamber is one of the most famous youth organizations in Japan. It was established by analogy of one of the first junior chambers - the United States Junior Chamber.
The development of creative branches of industry, volunteering, work of young people at enterprises, as well as the participation of Japanese skilled people in the WorldSkills Championship to be held in Kazan in 2019, were discussed during the meeting.
