On December 12-16, 2018, the 2nd WorldSkills Championship in the area of information technology – Digital Skills-2018 will be held at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre. Young IT professionals will compete in professional skills in 26 competencies, including development of solutions using blockchain technologies, robotic welding, city farming, quantum technologies, the Internet of things and others.
On October 1-2, 2019, the 3rd IoT World Summit Russia will be held in Kazan.
On November 8, production of modern oscilloscopes of the KOMZ Measurement Company was launched at the Innopolis Special Economic Zone in the Laishevo region of Tatarstan. First Deputy Minister of Informatizatin and Communication of Tatarstan Dmitry Vandyukov, Director General of Innopolis SEZ Renat Halimov and representatives of partner companies from Malaysia and the USA took part in the ceremony.
Since November 29, the new course will be available. After training and successful completion of the final exams, students will receive a certificate of advanced training.
On November 10-11, at the internal stage of an open IT hackathon, young programmers, designers and developers will introduce their software solutions for developing financial services and will compete for the main prize of 200,000 roubles. The best ideas of the participants of the IT hackathon will be implemented in practice.
The IT hackathon is held by Ak Bars Bank together with the University of Talents, the University of Innopolis, the Higher School of Information Technologies and Intellectual Systems of the Kazan Federal Universiy, with the support of the Ministry of Informatization and Communication of the republic, Tatarstan Ministry of Education and Science and the Regional Ministry of Youth Affairs.
The expert commission considered the projects of participants of the regional contest “Living Language - Living Nation” - 2018 in the nominations “Best Internet Project” and “Best Media Coverage”. As a result, six authors were given the opportunity to implement and develop their own projects using grant funds, amounted to 300,000 roubles.

Two months after the launch of the test zone, an autonomous Yandex taxi made its 1000th trip in Innopolis. Most often, residents of the city used autonomous vehicles to get to the university and technopark. The car makes about 20 trips every day, the duration of each trip is 10 minutes.
Innopolis became the first city in Europe, where a test zone for an autonomous Yandex taxi was opened this summer.
