A summing up meeting on the results of work of informatization and communication industry for 2018 held in Tatarstan

On February 5, in Innopolis, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Maksim Akimov, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Deputy Minister of the Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of Russia Aleksey Sokolov took part in a summing up meeting of Tatarstan Ministry of Informatization and Communication.

Minister of Informatization and Communication of the republic Roman Shaykhutdinov summed up the results of the Ministry’s work and said that the gross income of the industry amounted to 56.7 billion roubles in 2018 and mobile communications and information technology traditionally occupy the maximum share in its structure.

The share of profitable organizations in information and communications area reaches 77.1 per cent (for comparison, in the total number of organizations it reaches 75.6 per cent). The average monthly wage of employees of the industry amounted to 43,500 roubles. According to the “Digital Russia” rating by SKOLKOVO Center for Financial Innovation and Cashless Economy, Tatarstan ranks first in the Volga Federal District and second in Russia after Moscow. The results of this rating show the situation and development of digitalization in the regions of Russia.

Summing up the results of the work in mobile and telecommunications, the Minister said that as many as 2,700 new base stations were commissioned during a year and the number of LTE stations increased by 53 per cent. The result of the development of the mobile communication infrastructure is an increase of mobile Internet users by 6 per cent (3.6 million devices) and 59 per cent of consumable Internet traffic (212,000 terabytes).

According to the Federal State Statistics Service of Russia, Tatarstan remains the leader in the Volga Federal District in a number of subscribers of wired broadband Internet access, in particular, over a million people in the region.

Shaykhutdinov also reported on the other important issues such as the development of digital television, videomonitoring and e-services in the region.

Tatarstan Minister also summed up the results of the work of Innopolis.  He said, in particular, that the number of companies - residents of the SEZ increased to 77 with a total amount of investment 9.71 billion roubles and the amount of revenue 71.98 billion roubles and 9 companies have the status of the Innopolis  partner.
