Telecommunications operators offer to connect the Internet for teachers conducting lessons remotely

9 April 2020, Thursday

On April 9, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov held a videoconference with representatives of telecom operators, where they discussed the provision of reliable communications for citizens who work remotely during this period. Tatarstan Minister of Digitalization Ayrat Khayrullin also took part in the meeting.

At the moment, operators of nine companies provide home Internet in the republic. According to them, load has increased by 30 per cent this week. This is due to the beginning of distance learning for schoolchildren. The specialists of Tatarstan Ministry of Digitalization are already working to solve the problem of low Internet speed.

Telecommunications operators have also joined to the discussion of this issue. They are ready to connect teachers conducting distance learning lessons to the home Internet for free. They also suggested allowing teachers to use educational platforms even if there are no funds on the balance.

Tatarstan Ministry of Digitalization together  with the Ministry of Education and Science of the republic are currently considering the creation of a separate educational platform in the republic.
