According to Hi-Tech publication, the Siemens electronics manufacturer together with the ViP Verkehrsbetrieb Potsdam passenger transport operator will test an unmanned tram in Potsdam in Germany. The tram is built on the basis of the Combino train and is equipped with a complex of radars, lidars and cameras - the same instruments, which autonomous vehicles are equipped. The vehicle will be able to recognize traffic signals, stop at the right stops and wait until all passengers enter the tram.
The autonomous tram will be tested at the end of September, during InnoTrans 2018 exhibition.
