How to choose the right antenna for good TV reception?

On the Day of Russian Science, specialists of the Russian television and radio broadcasting network branch informed how knowledge of the laws of physics can help in setting up high-quality TV reception.

The broadcasting network controls the complex path of the TV signals from the ground stations to the space communication satellites and again to the ground stations in the regions. It is responsible for ensuring that the audience in the area of coverage is confident in receiving the TV.

The signal is stronger near transmitting TV towers than far from them. Therefore, the audience living at different distances from TV towers need different antennas. Analysis of complaints about poor reception shows that 98 per cent of them are caused by an unsuitable antenna.
