As many as 26,600 social facilities connected to the high-speed Internet in Russia in 2020

Russian Ministry of Digital Development summed up the results of the connection of socially significant facilities to the Internet in 2020.

Most of the connections, namely about 8,900 were made to medical and obstetric centres. About 8,400 educational institutions and about 3,900 State and local authorities were also connected.

In addition, 3,000 election commissions, over 2,000 facilities of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Federal National Guard Troops Service and almost 400 State and municipal cultural organizations were connected to the Internet.

In 2021, 6,000 cultural organizations will also get access to the World Network.

Since 2019, socially significant facilities have been connected to the Internet under the Information Infrastructure federal project of the Digital Economy national programme.

Sixteen telecommunication operators provide connection under three-year government contracts throughout the country. In 2019 and 2020, 44,300 socially significant facilities received access to the Network.
